Prazdroj opened its sixth season of concerts with a novelty – merging with Jazz Without Borders festival and an exhibition opening
17.10.2011 CompanyThe opening concert of the fall season and the season of winter performances began on October 11th in the Visitors Centre of Plzeňský Prazdroj brewery, featuring the Regensburg Jazz Ensemble from Germany, and a recent icon of the Israeli jazz-scene, Boris Grammer.
The performance was accompanied by an exhibition of artwork by Jindřich Bílek named „Colour in Jazz Tones.“
The opening concert was followed by the traditional series „Musical Rendezvous with Lubomír Brabec and His Guests.“ This year, the guitar concert artist Lubomír Brabec was inspired by the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Prague Conservatory of Music. This theme is reflected in the whole programme structure of concerts of the entire series. And so the top graduates of various majors from the Prague Conservatory of Music accepted an invitation from Lubomír Brabec to participate. The concerts will always take place on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., according to the programme (see below).
This year, as every other year, all concerts taking place in the Visitors Centre of the Plzeňský Prazdroj brewery will be accompanied by interesting exhibitions. The first concert of this year’s season will be accompanied by the exhibition named „200 years of Prague Conservatory,“ under the auspices of UNESCO, and dedicated to the past and the present of this important institution.
„Via his concerts, Lubomír Brabec is able to bring many very important guests, distinguished performing artists, chamber ensembles, as well as interesting musical styles to the brewery. So far, the visitors had the chance to enjoy performances by stars of the world opera scene Gabriela Beňačková and Štefan Margita, violin virtuosos Pavele Šporcl and Jaroslav Svěcený, and the legend of Czech chanson Hana Hegerová, and this is just a small fraction of the number of famous names connected with the series so far. Therefore, this fall in Prazdroj promises great expectations,“ said Jindřiška Eliášková from Plzeňský Prazdroj.
